 St. Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament, Apostle of the Divine Mercy "O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." ~ Psalm 136 Formative years Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament, known as the Apostle of Divine Mercy, was born as Helena Kowalska, in Glogowiec, Leczyca County, north-west of Lódz in Poland on August 25, 1905. She was the third of 10 children to a poor and religious family. When she was seven, Faustina first felt a calling to religious life when attending the Blessed Sacrament Exposition. In 1924, Faustina experienced her first vision of Jesus. While at a dance with her sister, Natalia, Faustina saw a suffering Jesus who asked her, " How long shall I put up with you and how long will you keep putting me off? ”. Heir to his father’s vast wealth, he grew up in the lap of luxury, living a life of pleasure he endeared himself to the elite community through his natural generosity, wit, and charm.  When Francis was 20 years old, he seized the opportunity to fulfil his youthful dreams of glory by fighting in the perennial battle between the warring towns of Assisi and Perugia. Feast of the Guardian Angels The Feast of the Guardian Angels, celebrated each year on October 2nd, is a time for the faithful to reflect on the role of these heavenly beings who protect and guide us. St Thérèse of Lisieux

  October 1: Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux       October 1st is the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, or Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, the patron saint of missionaries, priests and florists.       Thérèse died when she was only 24, after having lived but 10 years as a cloistered Carmelite nun. She never went on missions, never founded a religious order, nor performed great works. The only book of hers, published after her death, was a brief edited version of her journal called " Story of a Soul ." Yet, generations of Catholics have admired this young saint, calling her the "Little Flower" and the Church honoured her with the prestigious title of 'Doctor of the Church".       Like a soldier kitted for war, she was ready for battle: humility was her armour and love was her only weapon. She had a faith of truly mustard seed proportions (Matt. 17:20) enabling her to perform entire mountains of charitable acts and she embraced God’s pl
